ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The 4th of July and fireworks go hand in hand, and Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom is making sure guests enjoy a huge display.

In the July heat workers from Rozzi Fireworks out of Ohio are putting on the finishing touches to make sure Dorney Park lives up to its tradition of a great fireworks display.

"Rozzi Fireworks usually comes out three to four days in advance and they set everything up, making sure it's good for all the shots, and then they're going to put in the rounds," said Ryan Eldredge, Public Relations and Communications Manager of Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom.

This year it's a little different. Instead of one night of patriotic firework fun, they've expanded to three nights for their Star-Spangled Nights Celebration starting on the 4th, making it a little more complicated for those running the show.

"A lot of blood, sweat and tears go into this," said Eldredge.

Every night a massive display is planned.

"Twenty minutes long with patriotic tunes, we got about 1,000 shots per show," said Eldredge.

Safety is just as important as putting on a great show.

"We're ready for any mistakes," said Eldredge. "Fortunately, we have this open space back away from the park, so we're not near any rides."

The fire marshal will also check the set up with extra emergency personnel on hand.

With two extra nights this year, more people will be able to enjoy the display.

"There's a lot of good vantage points and many local people know inside the park, you get a lot of vantage points," said Eldredge.

The fireworks are expected to start at around 9:30 p.m. each night. The display is included in the price of park admission.
