This is Space Force Junior ROTCIntroducing the National Awards for Cadet Guardians: IIIWe continue our discussion of the awards and ribbons that will be given during these final months of the academic year. Individual awards are made to outstanding #CadetGuardians in all ten of the Space Force JROTC units around the United States as well as in every Air Force JROTC unit.The Daughters of the American Revolution Award is the third highest in precedence for individual merit and performance. Sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution, this award is given to one outstanding Cadet Guardian in each unit who is a second or third-year student depending on whether the local program is three or four years long. The recipient must be in the top 25 percent of their SFJROTC class and their school class. They must display the qualities of dependability, good character, and discipline. They must also show leadership and patriotism. While the #SFJROTC is not a military accession program, its mission is to "launch #citizens of #character with a #space-vision" into their communities.The entire SFJROTC enterprise appreciates all the organizations that sponsor the award programs that help motive the next generation of leaders toward their #Commitment to Mastery.SFJROTC units are managed by Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) with the support of United States Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13, Detachment 2.

This award is given to an outstanding Cadet Guardian in each unit who is a third-year student of a four-year program in the top one percent of all cadets in the unit for academics, leadership, and professionalism. The student will demonstrate outstanding attitude and appearance along with the virtues of initiative, judgement, and self-confidence. This is Space Force Junior ROTCHonoring History and the Veterans Who Made ItThe #CadetGuardians at the Academy for Academic Excellence in Apple Valley, California, recently served on the team that honored an American veteran as part of a local military honors detail. The ceremony took place at Riverside National Cemetery, one of the nation's 164 national cemeteries. Their duties were to render the traditional three-volley salute that proceeds the playing of Taps and the folding of the veteran's flag that draped the casket.While not members of the United States military, the high school students in the program use the values and culture of the United States Space Force to guide their journey to become "#citizens of #character with a #space-vision." Acknowledging the importance of public service and learning how to honor those who served is an important lesson for these future leaders. This is Space Force Junior ROTCHonoring History and Meeting New MentorsThe hosted the revival of a tradition on April 18, 2024 in Arlington, Virginia, when they led members online around the world in 'lifting a glass' for the Doolittle Raiders Memorial Toast. #CadetGuardians from the Space Force JROTC unit at the Arlington Career Center were invited to observe in person the creation of this new tradition which honored the heroic crews that first attacked Japan in the beginning days of World War II. While at the ceremony, the students met new mentors. These included the current Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General James C. "Jim" Stilfe, and the current commander of the Air Force Global Strike Command, General Thomas A. Bussiere, the keynote speaker for the event. This is Space Force Junior ROTCPublic Service for Colorful Community EventsFor the #SFJROTC unit at the Arlington Career Center (Va.) it was not a day to wear uniforms while doing public service at their community's Holi spring festival. It was not all work though. The #CadetGuardians got into the spirit of the celebration by adding some color of their own. #Space is an international and multi-cultural affair. Twenty-one countries have sent astronauts to the International Space Station to live and do science together. Today, the hottest "space race" is to build coalitions of countries to promote norms and peaceful uses. Sweden has just signed on to become the 38th country to be part of the Artemis Accords--principles and best practices between the United States and other countries that articulate the need for civil norms when exploring and using the Moon and beyond. It is critical for future #citizens of #character with a space-vision to understand and accept the need to support #connection with everyone for a safe and secure domain for all of humanity. Many of the Cadet Guardians who volunteered at this event expanded their knowledge of other cultures and had fun in the process. There are many positions available now in Air Force JROTC units around the United States. (The highly coveted SFJROTC billets are filled but there will be more units standing up in the future.) Retirement from the Air or Space Force is no longer a requirement. Drilling Guard or Reserve members with enough experience, as well as separated veterans with eight years of honorable service are invited to apply. These are civilian employment opportunities in local school districts. No service credit is given for these positions.
